The 8 Limbed Path of Ashtanga Yoga.

In the Yoga Sutras Patanjali outlined an eightfold pathway to cultivate a steady mind and lead us toward everlasting contentment. Patanjali revealed a sequence of ethical principles and disciplines, observances and restraints to adhere to and fortify us. Along with the practical aspects of Asana and the divine aspect of Pranayama a dedicated practice can lead us toward a more meditative state. In humble, honest continued and devoted pursuit of this path; the fruits of concentration, discernment, wisdom, self knowledge and eventually absorption and ultimate peace are available to us all.

Chant along with The Invocation to Sage Patanjali.

Patanjali, is thought to have been born around 200 BCE. A Luminary on Yoga, Grammar and Medicine.

When we chant we aim to invoke the purifying qualities of Patanjali who wrote The Yoga Sutras: A pathway to purifying the mind and body along with The Mahabhaysya: A commentary on Sage Panini's system of grammar. Looking at the cognitive process of speech, its translation of thought and its effects thereof.

A reminder to us, that word is not just a sound but is meaningful, and bridges between the internal self and the external world.

Thirdly his contribution to the subject of Shodhana, detoxification through Ayurveda.

Books on Iyengar Yoga

There is so much to learn from the many books written on the vast subject of Yoga. A great place to start is "Light on Yoga", "Light on Life" and "The Path to Holistic Health", & one of my main inspirations for this site is of course:

Sri Geeta Iyengar's "Yoga in Action, a Preliminary Guide".
